super smeller
If something stinks, I'm your "man".
I can smell incoming sickness1, the compost a day or two before it needs to go out, when someone has recently been in a room. Winter has a scent too2, and so does tap water, depending on how it's been treated.
My dad jokes that my nose is big on the inside. Nobody else in my family has this trait, not even my identical twin sister! It's a blessing and a curse really.
Today, I was brought in to settle a debate between my mom and dad: Why do the bed sheets smell like rust?
The source of the scent was my mom's handbag. She spilled water in it, and some of that water ended up on the bed somehow. The distinct 'rusty' smell was the water reacting with the handbag's material.
Even though the scent was strong (to me), I could still smell the fabric softener from the sheets!
